Top Three Art and Craft programs on TV for kids

Television has been called an idiot box, a junk machine and a creativity killer but there are some programs on television that do foster imagination in kids and are also useful for their learning and development. Kids love art and crafts ideas yet for a long time we did not have a lot of art based shows on Indian television.

I can happily recommend you to let your kids watch these three programs on Indian Kids’ television channels that are all about expressing creativity and also having a lot of fun.

 Art Attack on Disney Channel

Timing: Sunday 9 a.m (Plus repeat telecast through the week)

Gaurav Juyal anchors Art attack on disney channel and is all about sparking the creativity of kids. Gaurav uses the unlikely treasure trove found amongst the everyday trash lying in our homes and neighborhood while demonstrating the importance of recycling and reusing. Kids are given simple, easy-to-understand instructions to enhance their art and craft skills. What I really like about the show is that it encourages kids to work on their own thoughts to create awesome yet functional art and the show embodies the Disney spirit to bring together the family and entertain across age groups.

For more fun, log on Art attack page on Disney channel and see the videos of previous episodes, write a message to the host, upload your own art and check out artwork uploaded by other kids.

 M.A.D on Pogo TV

Timing: Sunday 9 a.m (Plus repeat telecast through the week)

Anchored by Rob, M.A.D is a fun-filled, interactive, creative journey where ordinary materials are transformed into works of art. Every single time you discover new styles, that are easy, and exciting, and for everyone to try and enjoy.

Rob mostly uses simple art tools like a pencil, paintbrush, colours and paper and helps children explore the world of imagination through art. From new and easy painting techniques, to fun and exciting paper crafts for kids. I especially find the playing on shadows and silhouettes, recycled boxes and bottles, interesting and fun!

You can log on to the M.A.D page on pogo TV and see all your favorite craft tutorials, get free goodies like school labels, wallpapers and even birthday favors. You can also see how to make the fabulous flipbook online.

Mister Maker on Cbeebies

Timing : Everyday at 9 a.m (Plus repeat telecast through the day)

Mister Maker is an art and crafts program focused on preschoolers and has been commissioned by BBC for Cbeebies. In the program Mister Maker gets a creative idea and he starts to make something based on it. For this he gets all the material from the doodle drawers or the Art and craft shops. Thereafter there is shape dance and make a picture. This is followed by Minute make-time, frame it, another creative idea and finally clean up. What I really love about the show besides anchor Phil Gallagher’s animated and child like personality, is the way the program’s content is geared around toddlers but is not dumbed down.

Mister maker is also online at Cbeebies Asia where you can see the videos of his best works.

So enjoy these programs with your little ones and bond over making craft items and art while creating beautiful memories to be treasured forever. Do you know of any other Television program on Art and craft for kids? I would love to hear about them through your comments.
