If you read our review of the Toypedia, the toy library then you know that the first toy that my daughter picked up from Toypedia was the Fisher Price Little Mommy Doll. Every little girl has  little mommy instincts that they pick from who else, but their own mommies. I think the need to take care and mother are inherent in children and pretend toys like dolls, kitchen sets, doctor sets etc are great for developing these caring skills and nurturing part of their brain.

So here is the Review of Fisher Price Little Mommy Doll- My very real baby.

Fisher Price My Very Real Baby Doll

This is an interactive, life-like Doll with very real movements and sounds. There are six accessories with the Doll- A teddy bear, a juice pop, band-aid,wiping cloth, bowl and spoon. 15″ doll, makes 150 sounds, has touch active sensors & requires 4 AA batteries.

Price: Rs 5499/-

Our Experience

My 3 year old was beyond excited about this doll. From the moment we reached the house all she wanted to do was to play with that toy. The Doll is pretty and cute but then that is not what sets it apart from other dolls. It is the level of interaction that the doll has with the child which brings out the real little mommy in every girl.

It is an attention seeking and demanding doll and would keep saying some phrase or the other. The most common ones being “I am hungry mommy”, I am hurt mommy, tickle me mommy, will you clean me up mommy and so on. It was adorable watching my daughter play such an attentive mom to her doll.

If laid down for a while the doll or if inactive, it will say that it is sleepy and demand her teddy bear which she will clasp in her hands in a very life-like movement. Samaira related with this too as she also needs her blankie to sleep.

Another unique feature in the doll are the sensors which are present inside her mouth and on the knee. When the doll requests for an ice pop and you place it in her mouth, the doll will make slurpy sounds and her tongue actually becomes green. Similarly when she says that she has got a boo-boo her knee becomes red and you have to put a band-aid on it. All this adds to the real life factor of the doll and my daughter was chuckling and giggling all the time due to the doll’s antics.

I would suggest that you switch it off after a while because of course it consumes batteries and also because any movement to the doll will make it speak which might startle your child especially at night.

To Buy or To Not Buy

To Buy

It has a very high interaction level and will keep your kids entertained for a long time. It is an excellent toy for imaginary play and for developing nurturing skills in young children.

To Not Buy

It is quite an expensive toy and from what I observed my 5 year old niece lost interest in it after a while. So you might want to buy this doll for your toddlers but not for young kids.

  1. Wow! Little minds are such a discoverers!!!…Samaira is so adorable, love the way she does I am mommy!!!

    • Thanks Vandana for the lovely comment. These toys really bring out the observers in kids. How keenly they watch their adults, learn their mannerisms and can repeat when required. It is amazing!! Playing mommy is definitely Sam’s favorite game. :)

  2. Hi Swapna,

Great review and I agree 100% about it being lovely, interactive and very cute but here’s what we found.. We’d gotten a Little Mommy Doll for M for Christmas last year and not only did she lose interest in it really fast, the doll is frankly a pain to clean because ALL the clothing and everything is stitched to the body of the doll which has batteries.. So yeah, the clean freak in me doesn’t much care for it either:-)

    • Thanks for the insightful comment Prerna. Cleanliness of a toy is a deal breaker for us also but since we had the toy only for a couple of weeks I guess I didn’t think about it. I like those toys where the battery case is removable and the outer case or body is washable. But I guess, this is one of the best part of joining a toy library. You can try out toys and find their pros and cons and if you really like a toy then you can buy it. :)
