Easy, Budget-Friendly and DIY Christmas Decorating ideas

I love Christmas. Not just because I am a Catholic but also because December is my favorite month, winters are my favorite season and Christmas is just so much fun, frolic and fabulous. As I have mentioned before in a post as ours is an inter-religious marriage, we always make that extra effort to make every festival beautiful and memorable for my daughter. Christmas is no different, we go all out with the Christmas tree, the ornaments, the gifts and my husband even dressed as Santa last year to surprise the kids on Christmas morning.

However, this year Christmas will be low-key in our family due to some personal reasons.  But that doesn’t mean that there won’t be any yuletide cheer in our home. We will just scale down everything and still have a gorgeous Christmas. With this intent I was scouring the blogland for easy, budget-friendly and DIY Christmas Decoration ideas and I found some awesome treasures which I must share with all my readers. You can incorporate some or all of them in getting your house Christmas ready.

Colorful and Vibrant Christmas cards spread the Holiday cheer and if you are like me and save the old Christmas cards, you can make some gorgeous decorating pieces out of them. Don’t believe me? Look at these wonderful and creative ways to display your cards and create a focal piece.

Whether you don’t have the space for a large christmas tree or you want a eco-friendly Christmas tree, there are innumerable ideas for having a christmas without an actual tree.  You can use fallen branches and decorate them with ornaments or make a tree out of a piece of wood and pipe cleaners. If you are looking for some Tree Decorating ideas go to pinterest.com and you will find amazing finds there.

If you love making things on your own then Christmas is a great time to indulge your crafty side. Just stock on some colorful, patterned paper, trims, beads etc and create beautiful Christmas items like hangings and decorations without breaking your bank balance. These Simple Christmas Ornaments are easy to make and don’t require a lot of craft acumen.

If you don’t have any time at all to buy decorations and bedazzle your house for Christmas, don’t panic. There are still small things and touches you can give to your house which will definitely put your family in the festive spirit. Just add some accents in holiday colors like Red and Green Cushions, Tying a Bow on all the Chairs in your living room, lots of Christmas Light, using multicolored socks to create a Christmas hanging and your house will be all set to join the Christmas cheer.

I am going to use many of these Simple Christmas decorating ideas and put them to use to decorate my house. I hope you like them too and remember that
Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts

  2. Lovely ideas Swapna, you have put it together really well. Christmas is a fun time at our place as well, and the tree is always set up quite early. This year I made the children decorate it as well so it was a nice experience for them :).

We have more in common than being moms, mine is an inter-religious marriage as well :).
